Dr. Rebecca Cassidy

cassidyRebecca Cassidy is a Professor of Anthropology at Goldsmiths, University of London. She has published three books about horseracing including Sport of Kings: kinship, class and thoroughbred breeding in Newmarket (CUP, 2002) and the Cambridge Companion to Horseracing (CUP, 2013). She is principle investigator of GAMSOC (2010-2014) a multisited project which uses anthropological methods and theories to explore gambling in Europe. She is particularly interested in the cultural and historical variation of gambling. More information about GAMSOC can be found at:
