Dr. John Haw

John HawDr. John Haw is a researcher and lecturer in the field of gaming management. His background is in psychology, and he completed his Ph.D. in 2000, conducting original research on the psychology of gaming machine play. His primary research interest is in behavioral and cognitive explanations of gambling behavior and, in particular, operant conditioning explanations for gaming machine play. However, he has also examined the psychological predictors of problem gambling, including personality, emotion, and other individual difference variables.

John is a member of the Centre for Gambling Education and Research and a Senior Lecturer in the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management at Southern Cross University (SCU), where his teaching interests are gaming management, research methods, and statistics. He is the course coordinator for the Bachelor of Business in International Hospitality Management (Gaming) and lectures in gaming technology, gaming impacts, and strategic gaming management.

John is the Vice President of the National Association for Gambling Studies (Australia) and the Associate Editor of the journal Gambling Research.
